Owned by Graham & Sue Kemp.
Custombilt has served the Sheetmetal/Stainless Steel Industry since the 1970’s.
Custombilt started as a division of a Multinational Company (managed by Graham) that closed all manufacturing in NZ in 2005 and it’s products are now produced in China.
Because the essence of Graham’s division was, as it’s name suggests, to manufacture one-off, custom-made products for the local market it was not feasible for them to be produced overseas.
Graham and his wife had the opportunity to buy the plant & machinery and set up Custombilt Steel Ltd working with both of their sons Paul & Tony and importantly Graham’s right hand man Neil Grant.
It was scary and exciting – Graham had worked for someone else all of his working life and there were some safe options that could have been taken. But the decision to break out of his comfort zone and form a new company (with the encouragement of his son Tony) was decided upon .
Custombilt is now a stand alone company servicing the sheetmetal industry specializing in the elevator industry, industrial doors and steel componentry and looking to expand into more products in the future.
We are a family orientated company that has traditional values of honesty, integrity and the golden rule of doing unto others.
Nine years later we are still here and still growing!
